Social Locations – Culture
Equity Framework > Social Locations > Culture
Culture includes broad ideas of similarity and difference. It also encompasses ways of being in the world. Culture includes patterns of ideas, customs, and behaviors shared by groups of people. It is not limited based on ethnicity, race, and/or faith [1]. Everyone is influenced by their respective cultures. Many systems are shaped by beliefs of dominant cultures [2].
Cultural responsiveness means acknowledging, respecting, and understanding differences. It’s part of achieving equitable outcomes and supporting child and family wellbeing [3].
